About me

I’m Kylie – a self-taught cake baker and decorator. Baked by Kylie started as a little seed in my head many years ago after I had my two boys (now nearly fully grown boys!).  I’ve always loved cooking and baking and it seemed an obvious choice to make a career for myself around my passion – cake!

I’ve loved baking from a young age and my very first job was in a bakery in a small beachside town south of Melbourne, Australia. Café culture in Melbourne is huge and it’s always been in my blood.

I bake my cakes using only high-end ingredients – for me, a cake has to look great but MOST importantly it has to taste amazing.  There is nothing worse than slicing into a beautiful masterpiece only to find a dry, tasteless cake inside.. yuk!  I have my own hens and use their gorgeous bright orange-yolked eggs. Chocolate is the finest Belgian and butter is only the best from France.  You get the drift.

I bake and decorate in my home near Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. I love what I do – and it shines through in the cakes I create for you!
